ACT International Workshop 2026
Actor – Chorus – Text | Voice & Performance Residency
From 22 to 29 August 2026, Valada Viva hosts the second phase of the ACT International Workshop, an immersive voice and performance residency led by Anna-Helena McLean (Guildhall School of Music and Drama), with an international team of associate artists and guest speakers.
This week forms part of the ACT Intensive programme, welcoming artists from around the world for a deep exploration of the Actor–Chorus–Text (ACT) Ensemble Practice. The work focuses on embodied voice, ensemble training, text, choral practices and psychophysical performance, within a rural, off-grid setting that supports presence, listening and creative risk.
Participants engage in daily studio practice combining physio-vocal work, extended voice, ensemble devising, text work and choral singing, alongside reflection, wellbeing practices and community life in nature. The residency culminates in an informal sharing of work developed during the week.
